Swelling pouches with mottled crimson interiors hang alongside heavy, ribbed rims and elegant overhead lids designed to shed rain. What elevates this composition is the kinetic energy of the support structures; Haeckel exaggerates the plant’s climbing tendrils into a chaotic, looping baroque framework that fills the negative space.
